My favorite forex resources on the web
Welcome, if you have reached this page you are probably interested in forex (foreign exchange), well, here is a good start point. The following resources are the few i like and use, i know there are thousands more.
-
Stock Charts - "Chart School". The site provides an introduction to technical analysis and trading strategies.
-
Technical Analysis from A to Z
by Steven B. Achelis. This book includes an encyclopedia of most of the known indicators. If you'd like to understand what's the logic behind those indicators used in your favorite charting software, this is the book for you. The book can also be found online in Equis site (follow the links of "Customer Zone" and then "Trading resources" and you might end up here). Please note that the examples in the online version are not as detailed as in the hardcopy version.
-
NetDania provides a free yet pretty comprehensive charting software. The software is java-based so you need not to install it, just enter their ChartStation page and start analyzing the chart. (Java plug-in is required).
-
Forex Practice. You probably already tried one of those standard demo accounts provided by many currency trading brokers. Although it is a good way to gain experience, it is a very slow one. Forex Practice offers a practicing tool that can saves you months of practicing time. The tool makes the most of your time resulting in a shorter practicing period - you may become a rich man much sooner :)
-
Investopedia and InvestorWords. Both sites offer an online dictionaries of words and phrases of the investment jargon. Have you encountered a new word you don't understand in a forex site? These dictionaries will probably help you to clear the mist.
-
Forums: Do you have any question regarding forex, in these forums you will probably get an answer. Elite Trader - includes many forums for almost any topic related to investment. I also like the Forums by OANDA.
-
Forex News. Calendar of about-to-be-published indices and other events. Most technical analysts prefer to be out of the market while the fed chairman is speaking. It is highly dangerous when he mumbles about bubbles.
-
FX Street - A forex portal. Portals are good sites to find most of the needed information. The fact that they are loaded with commercial stuff is not necessarily a disadvantage. Ads can tell you a lot about who are the leading brokers nowadays.
-
NFA - National Future Association. Make sure your broker is registered in
BASIC (Background Affiliation Status Information Center) database (relevant for american brokers).
-
CFTC - Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Read the Before You Trade page.
If you find a broken link in this page or if you are familiar with a good web resources related to forex (preferably free ones) feel free to tell me about. Please add XJD1FXX somewhere in the subject field, otherwise the mail will find itself forgotten in the junk folder. Occasionally i get too many mails to handle, so please don't get angry if i will not reply.
